The Galway Independent was on hand at yesterday’s Secret Cartoonist exhibition launch at the Secret Garden Cafe and published this photo in today’s edition. The Irish Times was at the launch, too, but we suspect their editor chickened out of publishing a photo of the controversial T-shirts. And maybe that’s why the picture isn’t on the Galway Indo’s web page either.
And it looks like we definitely hit a nerve at NUI Galway. Posters advertising the exhibition were put up on the university’s main notice boards, but were taken down straight away. We encourage supporters of gender equality and the Micheline’s Three Conditions Campaign to help with publicity for the exhibit by putting up new posters and posting about the exhibit on social media.
The Secret Cartoonist exhibition is running until Oct. 3 at the Secret Garden Cafe, 4 William St. West, Galway. The exhibit features framed versions of satirical University President cartoons. All proceeds benefit the Micheline’s Three Conditions Campaign, which is supporting female lecturers who have been forced to take their gender discrimination cases against NUI Galway to the High and Labour courts.
